About

Downtown Auroran is a free arts and culture magazine with a focus on the downtown scene. It is an independent magazine published quarterly that is self-sustaining through advertising revenue. More than 2,000 copies are distributed throughout downtown Aurora, Ill. and the surrounding area. We are rooted and engaged in the local arts community.

Downtown Auroran Magazine was founded in 2009 by Marissa Amoni, then a freelance writer and mom. Amoni created the magazine with the mission of promoting and supporting local arts and culture while advocating for a vibrant downtown. Since the magazine’s inception, Amoni started Downtown Aurora Arts Mixer, Alley Art Festival, and initiated the branding and cohesive vision of First Fridays in Downtown Aurora. Amoni is currently the event promoter for Aurora Downtown, an organization of business and property owners.
